by Michal Feckan (Author)
This book presents fractional difference, integral, differential, evolution equations and inclusions, and discusses existence and asymptotic behavior of their solutions. Controllability and relaxed control results are obtained. Combining rigorous deduction with abundant examples, it is of interest to nonlinear science researchers using fractional equations as a tool, and physicists, mechanics researchers and engineers studying relevant topics.

Expectations and the Foreign Exchange Market

Routledge | English | 2017 | ISBN-10: 1138633224 | 112 pages | PDF | 6.49 mb

by Craig S. Hakkio (Author)
Originally published in 1984. This book examines two important dimensions of efficiency in the foreign exchange market using econometric techniques. It responds to the macroeconomics trend to re-examining the theories of exchange rate determination following the erratic behaviour of exchange rates in the late 1970s. In particular the text looks at the relation between spot and forward exchange rates and the term structure of the forward premium, both of which require a joint test of market efficiency and the equilibrium model. Approaches used are the regression of spot rates on lagged forward rates and an explicit time series analysis of the spot and forward rates, using data from Canada, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Germany.

Józef Banaś and Mohamed Jleli, „Advances in Nonlinear Analysis via the Concept of Measure of Noncompactness“

English | ISBN: 9811037213 | 2017 | 487 pages | EPUB | 11 MB

This book offers a comprehensive treatment of the theory of measures of noncompactness. It discusses various applications of the theory of measures of noncompactness, in particular, by addressing the results and methods of fixed-point theory. The concept of a measure of noncompactness is very useful for the mathematical community working in nonlinear analysis. Both these theories are especially useful in investigations connected with differential equations, integral equations, functional integral equations and optimization theory. Thus, one of the book’s central goals is to collect and present sufficient conditions for the solvability of such equations. The results are established in miscellaneous function spaces, and particular attention is paid to fractional calculus.

Jorge Bustamante, „Bernstein Operators and Their Properties“

English | EPUB | 2017 | 423 Pages | ISBN : 3319554018 | 6 MB

This book provides comprehensive information on the main aspects of Bernstein operators, based on the literature to date. Bernstein operators have a long-standing history and many papers have been written on them. Among all types of positive linear operators, they occupy a unique position because of their elegance and notable approximation properties.
This book presents carefully selected material from the vast body of literature on this topic. In addition, it highlights new material, including several results (with proofs) appearing in a book for the first time. To facilitate comprehension, exercises are included at the end of each chapter.
The book is largely self-contained and the methods in the proofs are kept as straightforward as possible. Further, it requires only a basic grasp of analysis, making it a valuable and appealing resource for advanced graduate students and researchers alike.

All Sides to an Oval: Properties, Parameters, and Borromini’s Mysterious Construction By Angelo Alessandro Mazzotti

English | EPUB | 2017 | 160 Pages | ISBN : 331939374X | 5 MB

This is the only book dedicated to the Geometry of Polycentric Ovals. It includes problem solving constructions and mathematical formulas. For anyone interested in drawing or recognizing an oval, this book gives all the necessary construction and calculation tools. More than 30 basic construction problems are solved, with references to Geogebra animation videos, plus the solution to the Frame Problem and solutions to the Stadium Problem.
A chapter (co-written with Margherita Caputo) is dedicated to totally new hypotheses on the project of Borromini’s oval dome of the church of San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane in Rome. Another one presents the case study of the Colosseum as an example of ovals with eight centres.
The book is unique and new in its kind: original contributions add up to about 60% of the whole book, the rest being taken from published literature (and mostly from other work by the same author).
The primary audience is: architects, graphic designers, industrial designers, architecture historians, civil engineers; moreover, the systematic way in which the book is organised could make it a companion to a textbook on descriptive geometry or on CAD.
